Denesia Smith is an up and coming makeup artist located in Los Angeles that specializes in various types of makeup styles. She offers beauty/fashion, bridal, and on-screen services to meet all of your different needs. She is very passionate about this industry and hopes to have more opportunities within the film and fashion industry!

1. What inspired you to become a makeup artist?

Growing up, this trade was always a passion of mine; I had always admired beauty and art (coming from those people who eventually became my role models.)

2. How did you learn your makeup artistry skills?

I learned at school, however, I am also a self-taught artist. I was a freelancer before I moved out here. When I moved to California, I wanted to learn more about special effects and prosthetics, so I enrolled in school at EI School of Professional Makeup.

 3. What is your favorite beauty product and why?

I really don’t have one because all professional makeup has its own purpose for different things.

4. What beauty essentials do you carry with you on a daily basis?

In my purse, because I don’t wear makeup all the time, usually it’s tweezers and lip gloss. But, if I have my makeup done, it’ll be power, lipstick or lipgloss, and wax little sheets to blot the sweat.

5. What does beauty mean to you?

It’s about feeling good about yourself, whether it’s because of makeup or nice clothes or exercising, it is having confidence in yourself..Like empowering yourself!!

6. What is your morning and evening beauty routine?

Skincare always! Look at it this way, we are born with this skin that we will have for our entire lives; its important to take care of it as much as possible. So, don’t let makeup be the reason to skip our skincare routine. For instance, your makeup will last longer, you’ll achieve a flawless makeup application, and you’ll use less product over time.

7. What’s your best beauty tip?

Removing your makeup before bed is very important because it can cause extensive damage to your skin during the night. The skin renews itself while you sleep, when you leave makeup on, you are preventing that from happening.

8. What’s next for you?

More projects in the TV/Film and Fashion industry. I’m praying for the new year where my name can get known more. Hopefully, become union one day but freelancing is cool for now.
