Who would’ve thought making a gummy to protect us from environmental stressors is possible? Sundaily did and we think they made a great job at it. 1. What inspired you to create the brand?
Coming from the world of dermatology research, it was clear to me just how much the environment we live in damages our skin. In fact, the overwhelming majority of preventable skin aging is due to factors, like sun exposure, smog and stress. And the ability of topical products to help is limited because they often can’t get into the deeper layers of our skin. I saw a need for better strategies to help us defend our skin against these environmental stressors that was backed by strong science, and worked from the inside out. That’s why we created Sundaily- a daily gummy to protect and maintain healthy skin!
2. Can you tell us about the featured ingredients and the brand mission?
The featured ingredient in Sundaily is an extract of a fern from South America called polypodium leucotomos. Polypodium leucotomos has been studied for over 30 years for it’s powerful antioxidant benefits, which include protecting skin against damage from environmental stressors, like the sun.
3. What is your favorite Sundaily product and why?
At present we just have the one star product, a daily gummy for skin health and anti-aging- Sundaily. While a dermatology researcher at Harvard, I researched the science behind plant-based ingredients shown to combat the causes of skin aging, like sun, smog and stress. Polypodium leucotomos, an antioxidant-packed fern extract from South America, emerged as leader with over 30 years of research backing its anti-aging and skin protection benefits. Sundaily gummies feature this remarkable fern extract in a tasty, vegan, gummy format flavored with organic orange oil.
4. What beauty essentials do you carry with you on a daily basis?
I think of it much more as skincare essentials to make sure my skin is healthy. The pro is that means skin looks and feels healthy too! In the winter my #1 essential is a moisturizer-I bring one everywhere with me! In winter the combination of increased hand washing and dry air, means dry, crackled hands. I use Kiehl’s Hand Salve to lather up after each hand-washing. At night I use Aquaphor before bed- it sounds simple but tried& true petrolatum is an incredible skin hydrator.
5. What does beauty mean to you?
As I said for me beauty is much more about skin health than appearance, but from a science perspective they’re actually really similar. Functionally, skin damage means impaired skin health. Visually, damage translates to symptoms that a lot of skincare products talk about like uneven tone, skin spots, wrinkles, and dryness.
6. What is your morning and evening beauty routine?
My skin essentials include a daily moisturizer in the morning. I’m a big fan of the Drunk Elephant products. And of course, my Sundaily gummy! At night, I use a topical retinoid- the gold standard in skin health& antiaging ingredients. In the winter I switch to a gentle cleanser, like the Garnier SkinActive Gentle Cleanser or the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser and lukewarm water when washing my face to help prevent my skin from drying out.
7. What’s your best beauty tip?
The number one thing you can do for skin and skin aging is to avoid sun exposure! And this doesn’t just mean at the beach, as most of the sun we get on our skin happens doing daily activities like driving and walking the dog. So remember your sunscreen (SPF), UPF clothing, umbrellas, seeking shade and Sundaily gummies are all important strategies in helping to minimize the amount of sun damage to skin.
8. What’s next for Sundaily?
We have some exciting developments in the next few months- with new gummy products coming put that will help prevent and repair skin damage, for healthy, radiant skin. These products will feature the same strong science and plant-based ingredients Sundaily has become known for. The goals is to give people an easy, tasty way to improve their skin health and appearance from the inside out.
